Bloc.io

Bloc.io helps prepare students for a bright and profitable career as a web developer, software developer, and designer. They utilize the Bloc method, an approach that aims to deliver the best-quality education and is based on their experience as a learning provider.

Bloc offers three tracks: Part-time Web Developer, Software Developer, and Designer. Each track equips students with mastery of the tools and languages of the trade. Depending on your chosen track and mode of study, you can finish your course in between 6 months and 2 years.

Bloc.io helps students prepare for a career in web development, software development, and design. They use the Bloc method to optimize their education using their experience as a learning provider.

The Bloc method prioritizes students’ satisfaction by asking for their feedback on lessons, the platform, and their mentors. They use the data they collect to improve the curriculum in both big and small ways. The Bloc method is geared towards helping students achieve “Job-Ready” status. They do this partly by reviewing the best practices for job search and incorporating their findings into their services.

Lessons are taught through flexible online lessons you can learn at your own pace and schedule. The curriculum is structured and includes built-in assessments and real-world portfolio projects. You also learn and receive advice and feedback from a mentor with whom you meet for a one-on-one discussion weekly. You may also get support from Bloc’s active community composed of students and alumni.

The part-time web developer track lasts between 6 and 12 months, depending on your preferred pace. It is ideal if you want a quick but efficient way to become a professional web developer. Apart from the basics, the topics you will learn from this track include HTML, CSS, HTML5, Git, JavaScript, jQuery, and AngularJS. By the end of the track, you will have earned the skills to create a full-stack web application you can incorporate into your portfolio.

The software developer track can be taken full-time or part-time and lasts between 1 and 2 years. The topics covered include Git, HTML, CSS, DOM scripts, CRUD, MVC, SQL, and HTTP, among others. You will also learn the best practices in the case of sharing codes with fellow engineers. By the end of your track, you will have contributed to industry open source projects and actually created one yourself.

The designer track is ideal for those who are interested in researching, designing, and building the front-end and UI for modern-day applications. The course may be taken part-time or full-time and may last between 6 and 18 months. It covers design fundamentals, best practices, and research methodologies, as well as tools like CSS, HTML, and JavaScript. By the end of your track, you will be able to create responsive pages with the quality of user experience in mind.

Bloc courses can be paid for upfront or in 3-month and 12-month installments. The tuition can be settled through credit or debit card, wire transfer, check, or PayPal. You may also get a Skills Fund loan payable for up to 5 years. Should you drop out within seven days after starting your course, you will be given a full refund of your tuition. If you drop out at a later time, you will be refunded a prorated amount based on how long you stayed in the program, minus a $250 fee.

Excited for a new career

I’ve tried a couple coding courses mostly the free or cheap ones but I just cannot see how they’d prepare me enough for a career that pays well. Bloc trains me to pass interviews and that’s already a good start.

Best decision ever

My brother learned to become a developer through bloc and now he’s earning great. He told me to try it out. I’ve only been with bloc for a few days at this point, but the experience has been worth it. The best part was how I didn’t have to leave my current job just to do my studies.
